The mental health of Scotland's boys
Continuing the successful series of events around ‘Supporting Boys’ Red Harbour have produced for Policy Hub Scotland, this one-day training conference looked at the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Scotland’s Boys – offering those who work with boys and young men the opportunity to share ideas and experiences of how the best support can be offered allowing them to open up about their feelings, helping them build resilience and manage their own stress and anxiety.
The event looked at a number of topics including the issues impacting boys, the stigma around mental health, the support available, the advantages and requirement of positive role models and peer-to-peer discussions, the communication required with parents and carers and the pressures facing LGBTI young people.
A successful event but the need to do more and continue the discussion. The next steps are to host a follow up event at the end of 2019 or the start of 2020. Follow my twitter feed @ClairePHunter and Policy Hub - www.policyhubscotland.co.uk for further information
