Red Harbour are delighted to announce the first of our free to attend “In Discussion with” events, which will bring together policy makers and children’s issue leaders to explore some of the day’s key issues affecting Scotland’s young people and take questions from the sector.
Our first event will see Minister for Mental Health, Clare Haughey MSP discussing the issue of body image and young people with Moira McKenna, Chief Commissioner, Girlguiding Scotland with questions submitted from our audience, on Wednesday 18th November from 1pm – 2pm.
This “In Discussion with” event is being held as a precursor to our ‘Young People and Body Image – Challenging the Ideal’ online forum taking place on Tuesday 1st December, 12pm – 1.30pm. Follow link for further information and to book - https://youngpeoplebodypositivity.eventbrite.co.uk
The launch of the Coronavirus (COVID-19): mental health - transition and recovery plan in October and the feedback from the recent body image campaign by the First Minister’s National Advisory Council on Women and Girls (NACWG), demonstrates the increased awareness around the physical and mental harms caused by negative body image, particularly in young people. Although this recent campaign focused on girls, there is a great need to address the issues amongst both girls and boys and its impact on their mental health.
